how to prepare for hot girl summer

We've fully adopted the phrase "Hot Girl Summer" after Meg the Stallion introduced it to the world with her hit song a few years back. Summer is a time for fun, adventures, vacations, beach days, and living your best life.

Hot Girl Summer has taken on a meaning that only hot girls can truly understand. It's about living your life unapologetically, wearing whatever you want to wear, taking care of your body, and showing up as the best version of yourself.

While some people may think that Hot Girl Summer is about being wild, getting "lit", and dancing on cars, it actually can be a great time for you to work on yourself and level up. Here's four ways to prepare for your best Hot Girl Summer yet.

1. HYDRATE

Water is necessary for survival. Plants need it, animals need it, and humans need it. Our body is made up of about 60% water, so we need to frequently hydrate. Water helps our body to digest, detoxify, and maintain a healthy brain. In the summer when temperatures rise, we are more likely to become dehydrated so making sure that we have water with us at all times is crucial. If you're ingesting more alcoholic beverages than you normally would, you should be hydrating even more.

Water is also going to help you achieve a natural glow on your skin. Hydrated skin always looks the best. Who doesn't want that summer glow?

2. MOVE YOUR BODY

It's been scientifically proven that when we exercise our brains release endorphins (happy chemicals) that help boost our mood and self-esteem. How many times have you finished a workout and can remember being in a worse mood than you started with? If you have, you're probably not doing the right type of exercise; but that's a topic for another blog.

When we move our bodies we feel better, period. When you're in a good mood, you're nicer and you treat other people nicely and then that puts them in a better mood to treat other people nicely. You see where I'm getting at? Movement makes a happier and healthier society.

In the summer, we want to feel good, look good, have fun and be around happy people. When you move, you also inspire others to move. Try this fun Caribbean dance workout:

3. PROTECT YOUR PEACE

The best way that we can protect our peace is by setting boundaries. The main reason we set boundaries is to limit our stress levels usually caused by situations and people. It can be hard to enjoy yourself when you're stressed or overwhelmed. In order to live your best life, sometimes that means limiting communication or interactions with the world in order to protect your peace.

Don't be afraid to silence your phone, turn on Do Not Disturb, or take frequent phone breaks. Truly enjoying life and feeling peaceful requires being present, taking the time you need for yourself, and being able to feel detached from things like social media, drama, or work related stress.

When you go on that trip or hit the beach try to be as present as possible and limit the time on your phone in order to truly enjoy yourself.

4.FIND YOUR TRIBE

During the summer you may find yourself to be more social. You're probably more likely to meet up with friends often. We all want to enjoy the weather if it's nice out, so there are usually a lot of people outside to meet. But ultimately the people you hang out with will add more joy to your outings or they will make it unpleasant. That's why you have to find your tribe.

Surround yourself with people who want to try new activities, go on trips, or try new restaurants, or do more of what you enjoy. If you want to get into new hobbies such as cooking, dancing, or painting, take some classes and meet people to expand your social circle.

Hang around people who radiate positive energy and bring good vibes when you're together. The people you hang around have a direct affect on your mood, energy, and outlook on life. Surround yourself with people who help you glow internally.
