5 Essential Self-Care Items
When you love and value yourself, you know that investing in your self-care is necessary.
Self-care is more than massages, facials, and extended spa days. Self-care is simply setting aside time for yourself to replenish, rejuvenate, and recharge your mind, body and soul. This can be done anywhere, but typically in the comfort of your own home is best.
Here are five of my favorite items to keep at home to help me feel good, look good, and nourish myself.
1. Earth Therapeutics Tea Tree Oil Foot Balm
Who doesn't desire soft feet? Regular pedicures are definitely necessary and nice to receive, but what are you doing in between your appointments? If you're an active person like me, then your feet experience a lot throughout the day. Taking 2-3 minutes every night to massage your feet with this Earth Therapeutics Tea Tree Oil Foot Balm can make a huge difference. This cream leaves your feet visibly softer, moisturized, and ache-free. Definitely a must have!
2. Honey Lavender Stress Relief Tea
There's something about sipping on a warm cup of tea that just feels like serenity. I've never been much of a coffee person. Growing up with a West Indian parent, tea was a very common thing in our household. At a younger age, I was always looking for the best taste, but as I aged I started also looking for the overall health benefits.
Yogi Teas are some of the best out there, not just because they're organic and come with the cutest messages on the tea bag, but because they taste AMAZING! One of my favorite is the Honey Lavender Stress Relief tea. This tea is perfect to wind down in the evening, or midday if you need to take a breather. I find that I fall asleep quickly at night with this tea, and feel well rested in the morning. Definitely a 10/10.
3. Pacifica Body and Pillow Mist - lavender moon
As adults we're always looking for ways to improve our nighttime experience and sleep quality. How can we fall asleep quicker? How can we feel well rested in the morning? How can we get into REM?
I came across this Pacifica Lavender Moon Pillow Spray and now I look forward to indulging every single night. Honestly, this spray smells like good dreams and your favorite childhood blanket. It gives comfort, peace, and clean feeling to your nighttime routine. I love that it's plant-based, and you can also use it on your body. This one is absolutely worth the $10.
4.Celavi Collagen Facial Face MaskS
If you're into beauty and skincare then you know that Koreans are known for having one of the best skincare routines, as well as amazing, flawless skin.
One thing that I've adapted from the Korean skincare routine is the use of sheet masks. Sheet masks are designed to give deep hydration, assist in product absorption, and to give you the perfect glow. They can also help reduce discoloration, dark spots, and puffiness in the face.
One brand that I've come to really like is Celavi. I purchase their 24 Pack of Sheet Masks that include a variety of different ingredients like charcoal, pomegranate, seaweed, cucumber and more.
5. TOLOCO Massage Gun, Muscle Deep Tissue Massager
When you can't get to the spa but you're achy, sore or tight, this tool comes in handy.
Massages at the spa can be amazing. They are also very necessary if you are an athlete, dancer, or just an active individual. However, we don't always prioritize scheduling massages because of time or cost. That doesn't mean that we should totally neglect our bodies.
As a certified personal trainer, I know how discouraging it can be to feel extremely sore after a workout, to the point where you don't want to work out anytime soon. Soreness can be cause by myofascial adhesions.
You can loosen up knots or "myofascial adhesions" by performing regular self massage with this Toloco Massage Gun. This gun will help you get deep into your fibrous connective tissue to release feelings of soreness, pain or tightness. According to Motion Health, "Myofascial adhesions can form in the soft tissue of the body, and over time, can build up to limit mobility, decrease strength, and cause pain".
Taking care of yourself is a crucial part of life as we only get one physical body. Neglecting your self-care is not the way to live a full, healthy and long life. Invest in yourself and you'll never regret it.
